Untapped Potential: Exploring the future of Bigleaf maple syrup

Sunlight filtering through lush green leaves in a forest.

Did you know that our native Bigleaf maple produces a delicious syrup that rivals that of the Northeast?

Maple sugaring is an emerging industry in NW Oregon. OSU's Maple Sugaring Research and Development Program is exploring what commercial opportunities there may be on private lands in other parts of the state, including Southern Oregon.

This workshop will introduce you maple sugaring in the PNW so you can start tapping trees in your own backyard. Come learn about the basics of the maple sugaring process, taste samples of maple syrup, and get your questions answered.
